Member Review – The Energy Savings Store

The Energy Savings Store (TESS) installed a 2.1 KW solar photovoltaic system at my residence in Maplewood, Missour in June 2010. Five companies’ submitted bids and it quickly became apparent that TESS was in the top two for choosing an installer. TESS is one of the older solar companies in Missouri and has a good record of accomplishment and has installed more systems than other companies in Missouri. While based out of Kansas City area, they have a local office in Webster Groves.

TESS asked to resubmit a lower bid using Sharp 235 panels and Enphase microinverters as the hardware. There bid was all-inclusive and included a 5 year workmanship warranty. Bob Solger, company president and Steve Owen, who oversaw the installation provided a thorough site analysis and discussed the steps necessary in local permitting, Ameren’s rebate program, installation and warranty.  TESS initiated the required submissions and presented at the Maplewood review board meeting to obtain the necessary permits.

The installation was straightforward on my house since the roof faced south. The installation team took into account my concerns in location of the panels on the roof and the placement of the electric lines and conduit from the roof into the basement. The installation team came out in late afternoon to set up and plan the installation for the next day. The team and electrician were efficient and completed the installation the next day. Steve Owen was there to answer questions and make sure I was comfortable with everything including the envoy monitoring system.

TESS followed up to make sure the system is operating to specs and helped me finalize all the paperwork for the Ameren rebate. I feel The Energy Savings Store is very professional and would recommend them to other homeowners considering installing a solar system.
